Art - or just a load of rubbish?

A dirty rubbish skip has gone on display in Brighton - labelled an artwork.

With help from a £95, 000 grant, the piece called Skip has been given a glowing yellow trimming.

The lead artist of this year's HOUSE 2012 festival, renowned British artist David Batchelor has installed the work in Bartholomew Square. He was inspired by the streets of Brighton & Hove for his latest works, and the skip is designed to make people stop and think about rubbish.

The concept behind the festival was conceived in 2008 to commission thought-provoking and ambitious contemporary visual arts events in Brighton, that would provide regional artists with high profile exhibition opportunities in the city and beyond.
