Old Oak Common selected as location for new affordable homes
David Cameron has announced that Old Oak Common in north west London will be one of the locations in a nationwide scheme to build around 10,000 new homes.
The properties will be built on public land through Government direct commissioning - and is said to be the biggest project of its kind since Margaret Thatcher started the regeneration of Docklands in the 80s.
Mr Cameron said: "This Government was elected to deliver security and opportunity - whatever stage of life you're at. Nothing is more important to achieving that than ensuring hard-working people can buy affordable homes.
"Today's package signals a huge shift in government policy. Nothing like this has been done on this scale in three decades - government rolling its sleeves up and directly getting homes built."
