The annual Head of the River Race, rowed from Mortlake to Putney, is taking place today.

The competition, held each March, follows the route undertaken in the annual Boat Race between Cambridge and Oxford universities, only in reverse.

This year's event is the first Head of the River Race since 1927 to be held on a Sunday.
