Scientists find direct link between statins and diabetes

Cholesterol-lowering drugs taken by thousands of Britons every day could increase the risk of diabetes, according to scientists at University College London.

Research has found a direct link between taking statins and higher rates of the disease.

But scientists say the benefits of the drugs still greatly outweigh the risks.
