The Motion Photography Prize, a new competition run by Google+ and the Saatchi Gallery, picked finalists in six categories - landscape, lifestyle, action, people, night and urban. The creator of the winning entry will go on a trip with a photographer or film-maker as their mentor.

A total of 60 entries were shortlisted before the final six were chosen. All the shortlisted creations will be exhibited at the Saatchi Gallery from tomorrow.

Film director Baz Luhrmann and artist Tracey Emin were among the judges for the Motion Photography Prize, which celebrates the rise of camera phones and the way they enable people from all backgrounds to tell their stories.

Anyone over 13 could enter. The entries were in the form of GIFs - short films made by animating a series of still photographs. Six finalists have been selected from more than 4,000 entries and the winner will be announced later.
