Cyclist named

The cyclist who died in a road accident in Holborn on Monday has been named. He was 54 year old Alan Neve from Poplar.

The driver of the tipper lorry - a 51-year-old man - was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and taken into custody at a north London police station. He was bailed to return in October.

The London Cycling Campaign is to hold its second protest in a week, following the death of a man in Holborn.

Around 1,500 cyclists took part in the last protest ride from Tower Hill to Aldgate, which aimed to highlight the lack of separate cycle lanes on some of the capital's busiest roads.

This evening's protest begins at 6.30pm at Russell Square.

Lorry driver arrested following cyclist death

Cycle campaigners are demanding better safety measures in London once again, following the death of another cyclist.

The man, said to be in his forties, died after colliding with a lorry outside Holborn Tube Station this morning.

The lorry-driver has been arrested. Nick Thatcher reports

A cycling campaign group has organised a protest ride in the wake of the death.

The London Cycling Campaign sent their "deepest sympathy to family and friends of the latest victim."

It will take place tomorrow at 6.30pm, starting at Russell Square.
