A schoolboy not even old enough to vote is poised to break former Tory leader William Hague's record and become the youngest ever speaker at a political party conference.
Labour delegate Hasan Patel, 15, is still a year younger than Hague when the former Home Secretary gave his famous speech to the Tory Party conference in 1977.
Hasan was this week chosen to represent Leyton and Wanstead Labour Party at the annual conference following a members' ballot.
Despite being unable to cast a vote, Hasan, who won't take his GCSEs until next year, is preparing to address Labour Party delegates in Liverpool this September.
Surprisingly, given his political allegiances, he is happy to be compared to William Hague.
