Dozens of MPs urge the Government to support Crossrail 2
Dozens of MPs have urged the Government to support Crossrail 2.
The proposed north-south rail line connecting Surrey and Hertfordshire via a tunnel beneath central London must be given ministerial backing now so it can begin carrying passengers in 2033, according to a letter to Chancellor Philip Hammond signed by 59 MPs.
The group, largely based in south-east England, claimed the project "deserves national support" as it will reduce overcrowding at "nationally important stations" such as London Victoria and London Waterloo.
