Islington acid attack: mother and toddled discharged

Detectives investigating an acid attack on a couple and toddler in Islington are asking for witnesses for come forward.

The family was attacked just after 1pm at the junction of Caledonian Road and Copenhagen Street.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the scene where they discovered a 40-year-old man, a 36-year-old mother and their two-year-old son. Their injuries were described as consistent with a noxious substance, believed to be acid, being thrown at them.

The family was rushed to a north London hospital for treatment. Scotland Yard say that the mother and toddler were transferred to another hospital and have since been discharged.

The father's injuries are described as life-changing.
