Couple become internet stars after proposal goes viral
A couple from Brixton have become unlikely internet stars after their engagement was captured during a Coldplay concert.
The band were performing their hit 'Fix You' at Wembley on Thursday night when Brad Schofield got down on his knees and asked Marie Parlanti to marry him.
Several onlookers captured the moment including Antonio Castra who described is as 'one of the most emotional moments of his life'.
Brad was planning to pop the question in Brighton at the weekend but suspected that Marie was onto him.
"She caught wind that it was going to happen so I took the ring along to the concert and didn't tell anyone. It was a pretty special moment," he said.
The first video that circulated around the internet has already had more than 50,000 views - something that Brad said left him 'gobsmacked'.
The song has a double meaning for the couple. Brad admitted to being a big Coldplay follower but the couple are also big fans of the TV series Gavin & Stacey. In one episode, in which characters Pete and Dawn renew their vows, Pete recites the lyrics of the famous Coldplay song. 'It's something we always laugh about," said Brad.
The couple, who will have been together seven years in October, plan to tie the knot in summer 2018 but admitted 'at the moment, we're not thinking about it'.
