Sack Khan and I'll step down, George Galloway says

Left wing politician George Galloway today made an extraordinary offer to withdraw from the contest to be London's next mayor if Labour sacks its candidate Sadiq Khan.

Galloway, the former Respect MP for Bethnal Green, called on Jeremy Corbyn to replace Khan with a "decent" candidate.

Khan's campaign was thrown into turmoil at the weekend after an aide posted a string of offensive and abusive tweets insulting women and gay men.

Shueb Salar, described as a parliamentary assistant, resigned after being suspended by Khan on Saturday.

Galloway said Labour should sack Khan.

Khan declined to be interviewed by ITV News today but Labour issued a statement.
