Crossrail's new name takes Elizabeth Line by surprise

Crossrail's new name took one person by surprise today. Elizabeth Line, who works for a publisher in New York, was startled when she saw her name trending worldwide on Twitter. It took her a while to work out why.

It was revealed today the £15bn Crossrail project will be known as the Elizabeth Line when it opens in 2018.

The announcement was made by London mayor Boris Johnson during an official visit by the Queen to a Crossrail site at Bond Street.
