Students become the youngest pair to row across the Atlantic
Two students have broken the record for the youngest pair to row across the Atlantic ocean in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
The challenge took Jack Galsworthy, studying bio-medical sciences at University College London, and skipper Freddie Wright from Stroud, Gloucestershire 47 days, 14 hours and 46 minutes to complete.
They set off from La Gomera in the Canary Islands on 20 December and arrived at the English Harbour in Antigua - a distance of 3,000 miles - in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The pair, both 21 years old, took part in what is known as the world's toughest row - finishing tenth overall and beating 16 other teams to the finish line.
With the team name "Atlantic Castaways", the duo have raised close to £40,000 for their nominated charity, the Brain Research Trust.
Rowing in shifts of two hours on and two hours off, crews had to battle tropical storms, sleep deprivation, seasickness as well as body sores.
Galsworthy has previously run the London Marathon, raising £12,000 for charity.
