Plans to develop a 72-storey skyscraper beside Paddington Station have been paused following a barrage of complaints from residents and campaigners.

The so-called "Paddington Pole" was set to become the fourth-tallest building in London, however Westminster Council and developers Sellar/GWD said today they would be revising the original proposals.

The development faced criticism from residents and campaign groups such as Historic England and The Victorian Society about its height and environmental impact on the area, which the council says have been taken into consideration.

The developers will have to go back to the drawing board and alter the proposed height of the building, before the application can make it to the next stage of approval at Westminster City Council.
