Police searching for a man missing from his home in south London have recovered a body.

Scotland Yard said officers pulled a body from the Thames at Blyth's Wharf in east London on Christmas Day.

The discovery comes a fortnight after Michael Wright, 47, disappeared from his home in Lewisham. He was last seen at Whitehall in Westminster in the early hours of Friday, December 11.

Scotland Yard spokesman said his family have been informed of the development, but they are awaiting formal identification.
