Junior doctor risks own life to help victim of Leytonstone Tube attack

A junior doctor has described the moment he risked his own life to to help one of the victims of the knife attack at Leytonstone tube station.

Matt Smith had just finished an 11 hour shift at Homerton hospital in east London when he saw the man lying in a pool of blood.

Another passenger had already tried to stem the bleeding with his jumper.

Without any First Aid equipment, Matt then took over and did what he could to treat the wound.

But while Matt was helping the victim, the attacker returned, and started coming towards him.
