Severe delays and huge crowds at Waterloo Station
Services on major rail routes between London and south west England have been severely disrupted after a person was hit by a train.
The incident was between Surbiton and Wimbledon in south west London and was causing delays of up to 90 minutes to trains through Surbiton.
Trains between Hampton Court and Waterloo station in London had to be cancelled while there was a reduced service between Woking and WaterlooSome trains between Guildford and Waterloo via Cobham were diverted via Epsom, while trains between Exeter St Davids/Salisbury and Waterloo were starting and terminating at Basingstoke.
The disruption was expected to last until at least 4pm, meaning that those travelling in the evening rush-hour were facing hold-ups.
There were also delays today to passengers travelling with the East Midlands Trains, First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail train companies due to an obstruction on the line at Woodsmoor in Greater Manchester.
Other passengers held up today were those passing through Cardiff Central where delays were expected to carry on until around 4pm.
