Business bosses are demanding politicians stop treating immigration as an 'emotional issue' and allow more foreign workers to be recruited.

The London Chamber of Commerce said more than 50% of firms in the capital were struggling to hire skilled staff.

The claim comes despite recent unemployment figures showing more than 106,000 Londoners aged between 16 and 24 were out of work.

And a recent ComRes opinion poll for ITV News revealed immigration was one of the main concerns among London voters.

The Chamber of Commerce called on ministers to relax the immigration laws to make it easier to recruit from outside of the EU.
