Lord Coe declares his political career over and rules out running for Mayor of London
Former Olympics supremo Seb Coe today declared his political career over and ruled out running for Mayor of London.
Lord Coe's comments in an exclusive interview with ITV News will dash the hopes of London Tories, including Boris Johnson, who hoped to see him stand for City Hall in 2016.
Johnson told friends last month he was sure Coe could be persuaded to become the Conservative candidate.
But Coe has set his sights on becoming the next president of the governing body of world athletics, the IAAF.
He was speaking at the launch of a new British Olympic Association 'Road to Rio' app in the London Aquatics Centre where he met Olympians Max Whitlock and Tom Daley.
