15,000 Gaza protesters march on London

Thousands of protesters demanding an end to Israeli military operations in Gaza are marching through central London. The demonstration, organised by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign is expected to cause major traffic disruption in the West End.

The protesters were allowed to gather in Whitehall where slogans were chanted in the direction of Downing Street. Crowd barriers and a heavy police presence kept the crowd back from the gates. The march will end with a rally close to the Israeli embassy in Kensington later this afternoon.
