As of tomorrow bus users in the capital will no longer be able to pay their fares with cash. Passengers will need an Oyster Card, travel card or a contactless bank card to pay. All single adult fares will be £1.45.

If a bus user doesn't have enough credit on their Oyster Card, or if their travel card or pass has just expired, they are allowed one extra journey before topping up or renewing and clearing the negative balance.

Mark Watson, from Transport for London, has said the money saved from not using cash will be reinvested to improve the bus network.
