A major road has been partially closed after a building's roof collapsed.

Motorists and pedestrians have been advised to avoid the A23 London Road in Norbury, south London, after the building suddenly fell down.

Police were alerted at around 11.45am and are at the scene assisting the London Fire Brigade and other emergency services.

Three people are thought to have suffered injuries, none of them believed to be life-threatening.

Nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution as the property that suffered the collapse is considered unsafe.

London Road was closed southbound at Green Lane, with traffic being diverted there.

Transport for London said that diverted traffic was facing serious delays.
