Chemical spill on the M25
A lorry driver has been arrested after a chemical spill caused the closure of a section of the M25 in Essex.
Several motorists called police at around 5am this morning to say that containers had fallen from a lorry on the clockwise carriageway near Theydon Bois.
Around 3,000 litres of a chemical liquid spilled onto the road close to the Bell Common tunnel and the M11 junction.
The closure between junctions 26 and 27 is expected to remain in place Saturday afternoon.
The 43-year-old lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of motoring offences and is being questioned at Harlow police station.
Delays of up to six hours meant many holiday makers heading to Stansted Airport missed their flights.
