Body found in River Irwell

The body of a man has been found in the River Irwell in Salford.

Police and the fire service were called out this afternoon to the water by Cromwell Bridge in Higher Broughton.

An investigation is being launched to establish who the man is and how his body came to be there.

Police are asking people to try and avoid the area while they work at the scene.
