Investigation underway after fire at mill in Littleborough

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire which destroyed a disused mill near Rochdale. 12 fire engines and hydraulic equipment were used to tackle the blaze at Proofings Mill in Littleborough, which broke out at about 4.30pm on Saturday 24th March. About 40 residents were evacuated from their homes as firefighters brought the flames under control. It is expected they will be damping down at the site for two to three days.
