An investigation is underway after several people fell ill having taken suspected ecstasy tablets in Preston.

Two men and a woman were treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

It is believed the group had taken a pink pill with a 'Mastercard' logo marking.

Two people, a man aged 20 from Darwen and a 19-year-old woman for Crewe, have been arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug and are currently in custody.

Detectives are appealing for information and are urging people not to take the pils.

Det Insp Roger Ashcroft, of Preston CID, warned people they were putting their health at risk.

"I would urge anyone to refrain from taking these tablets - you don’t know what you’re taking and the risk you are putting on your health could be devastating.

“Fortunately it appears that none of the individuals involved were seriously affected by this incident and I want to reassure the public that we are trying to identify the source of the tablets."
