Body found in back of burning van in Greater Manchester

Police are investigating after a body was found in the back of a van outside a supermarket in Stockport this morning.

Firefighters were called to a Fiat Scudo panel van which was on fire in the car park of the Asda Superstore on Manchester Road in Reddish just before 9am.

After putting out the fire the crew then discovered a body in the back of the vehicle.

Police were then called and have now cordoned off an area of the car park while they investigate.

Forensic teams are currently at the scene and a number of ambulances and fire engines are also stationed at the car park.

Officers are now working to identify the body and how the fire was started.

Police don't believe there are any suspicious circumstances.
