Country's oldest public lending library at risk

Warrington was the birthplace of the public lending library, but now its own services are under threat.

The borough currently has 11 lending libraries but nine could close after the government cut it's financial support.

It's believed as much as 300,000 pounds could be saved, by plans to close and replace the buildings with lockers where books can be delivered.
