Elderly man found dead in canal in Stockport

An elderly man has been found dead in a canal in Stockport. Police were called to the Peak Forest Canal at Lockside, in Marple, at 8.45am this morning.

The body has been identified as that of a man in his 70s. Officers believe his body had been in the water for 24 hours. His name has not yet been released.
