Coronation Street stars to kick off Manchester's festive celebrations

Coronation Street duo Catherine Tyldesley and Kim Marsh are set to flick the switch for this year's Christmas lights in Manchester.

Thousands are expected in Albert Square for the city's annual festive celebrations, which includes a 15-minute fireworks display.

Events will start at 7pm, with Lemar and Scouting for Girls performing before the switch on.

The event is free and tickets aren't necessary but families are advised to arrive early as there is limited space at Albert Square.
