Warrington man jailed for 27 years for murdering his wife

Preston Crown Court heard that 51 year old Andrew Munro attacked his 47-year-old wife Clare last November stabbing her numerous times at the family home in Culcheth.

When police arrived they found Munro behind a summerhouse in the garden where he was arrested.

Clare was discovered in the kitchen with serious injuries but was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

Munro was also charged with grievous bodily harm with intent to another individual who cannot be named for legal reasons.

He was ordered to serve a minimum of 27 years behind bars.

Police say Munro was described was an extremely controlling man who used his expert knowledge of IT systems to keep tabs on his wife.

He employed various sophisticated pieces of equipment and software to follow her movements and monitor her phone and computer.
