Man's body found in the River Irwell in Salford

It's believed a man's body has been found in the River Irwell in Salford.

Police and fire crews were first called to the scene, behind KFC and Grosvenor Casino at 11.50pm on Monday night.

After working for several hours they called off the search, but returned after dawn on Tuesday morning to continue looking.

The Manchester Evening News are reporting that an eye-witness saw a body pulled from the water.
