Residents report sound of an 'explosion' across Manchester

Fire crews say they can't find the reason behind reports of a 'massive explosion' heard across Manchester and Salford last night.

Residents from Rusholme to Eccles reported hearing the noise on social media with one posting a picture of a plume of smoke.

Crews were called to reports of the sound of an explosion on Hessel Street at around 10:30 last night but say they found no evidence of a fire.
