Police are appealing for information after the body of a man was found washed up on the beach at Fleetwood yesterday, Monday 17 February.

Around 5.40pm a dog walker called police after they found the body of a man on the beach at Rossall.

The body was approximately one mile out from land and was recovered with the assistance of the Coastguard.

Enquiries are underway to identify the man and the death is being treated as unexplained at this time.

Detective Inspector Bev Foster said: “We believe this man has only been in the water for a short period of time and we are doing all we can to find out who he is and how he came to be in the water.

The man is described as white, in his late forties or mid-sixties. He is 5ft 8 to 10inches tall, medium build, clean shaven with light brown balding hair and blue eyes.

He was wearing bottoms and black cotton trousers over the top, a blue button up jacket and black lace up shoes.
