Cars destroyed after huge fire at Land Rover and Jaguar showroom in Stockport
Several vehicles have been destroyed after a huge fire ripped through a car showroom in the early hours of this morning, August 6.
A fire service spokesman said the fire involved a 'number of vehicles' at the Guy Salmon Land Rover and Jaguar showroom in Stockport.Pictures from the scene, next to the junction 27 of the M60, show clouds of smoke billowing through the air as flames ripped through the fencing below.
A number of cars on the forecourt were completely burnt out, while the charred remains of others are also visible.
Around seven fire engines were at the scene on Bailey Road at around 1.30am on Thursday.Residents were urged to keep their doors and windows closed while the road was closed off to traffic.Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our crews are currently dealing with a fire at an industrial estate on Bailey Road, Stockport."Local residents are advised to keep doors and windows closed."Please avoid the area while our crews respond to this incident."At 2.41am, the fire service tweeted that they were dampening down at the scene.
