Police investigate man's death in children's park

Enquiries are underway following the death of a man at a children's play area in St Helens.

Police and paramedics were called to Queens Park, Boundary Road, just before 8am to reports of concern for the safety of a man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was a large police presence and a forensic tent inside the park as investigations got underway.

Enquiries are ongoing to formally identify the man and inform his next of kin.

Police say they are treating his death as unexplained, although they do not believe it is suspicious.

A post-mortem will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
