New House of Keys reflects change in Isle of Man Politics
The Isle of Man has 24 new members of Government.
Last night polling stations in 12 constituencies counted their results, which for the first time have two members for each district in the House of Keys.
Many of those who won are fresh faces, meaning there is a shift in the way the Manx people have voted.
Half of the House have no previous experience in national politics, with an increase in women politicians - five were elected.
There was also unexpected disappointment for long-standing members of Government, including David Quirk, Phil Gawne and Leonard Singer.
The huge change in Manx politics may reflect what many have cited as a reconnection with the people - during the election build-up there was talk of the old House of Keys being ‘out of touch’ with residents.
Next week a new Chief Minister will be elected in house, after Allan Bell’s departure.
