'Dangerous' murder suspect jumps bail
A ‘dangerous’ suspect wanted for the murder of a cagefighter has jumped police bail.
Mateusz Zbigniew Madej, 22, was arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Sebastian Zuchlinski in Bolton in February.
The 39-year-old victim suffered stab wounds to the body, and deep cuts to his head, shoulder, and thigh.
Despite the efforts of paramedics he died at the scene. A post-mortem confirmed he died from multiple stab wounds.
A masked gang used machetes and knives to hack the amateur cagefighter in Davenport Street in the town.
It is understood one of his fingers was cut off, and the man’s girlfriend witnessed the attack.
Madej was arrested on suspicion of murder and then released on bail but failed to return for further questioning and has been on the run ever since.Originally from Poland he has links to Bolton, Manchester, Milton Keynes, and London.
GMP describe him as ‘dangerous’. He has numerous tattoos.
Mr Zuchlinski is understood to have worked as a delivery driver, was a huge sports fan and trained in cage-fighting and boxing.
He is thought to be a father and grandfather.
Friends said Mr Zuchlinski moved to the UK from Poland ten years ago.One pal, Anna Beata, 41, said at the time of his murder:
Police were alerted just before 10pm on Saturday February 9 that man was being attacked with a machete by a number of men.
Tomasz Bubrowski, 37, of Cavendish Gardens, Bolton, has been charged with murder over the death of Sebastian. He is due to face a two-week trial in February next year at Bolton Crown Court.
Six other people arrested in connection with the murder but were all released on bail - including Madej.
No one else has been charged in connection with Sebastian’s murder.
