First mascot for Isle of Man Youth Games visits young designer

Odin the Raven, designed by Grace Cooper, 8

A talented young designer on the Isle of Man has earned her school £200 worth of sports equipment.

Eight-year-old Grace Cooper of St Mary’s RC Primary School, Douglas, was the winner of a Manx Sport and Recreation competition to design the Manx Youth Games’ first mascot.

Odin the Raven was selected from over 100 primary pupils’ designs by Geoff Corkish MBE MLC, a member of the Department of Education and Children, and Kevin Cartledge, Senior Manager of HSBC, supporting the MYG.

Odin made its debut at the Manx Youth Games’ opening ceremony at the NSC on Saturday 7th May, where he proved popular with participants.

Mr Corkish and Odin visited St Mary’s School today to present Grace and St Mary's pupils their prize.
