Former Widnes coach Doug Laughton has revealed the moment he decided to recruit from Rugby Union - after a pint in the pub.

Laughton famously recruited the likes of Martin Offiah, Jonathan Davies, Alan Tait and John Devereux as his Widnes side conquered England and the world in 1989.

He spoke to ITV Granada's Mike Hall on the eve of the top-of-the-table Super League showdown between Warrington and Widnes.
