Liverpool celebrates Global Scouse Day
Set up in 2013 the day has grown from a little idea of the city's restaurants putting Scouse on their menu, to a global initiative involving Scousers from around the world.
Laura Worthington, a founder of Global Scouse Day commented:
Virgin Trains will be taking part in 2016's event with a number of initiatives. These include; placing Scouse on the menu across their UK train networks, and events at their Lime Street base. Anfield bakery Home Baked will be working with the train company to offer Scouse pies to fans travelling down south to the Capital One Cup Final. This will be the second year that the national rail operator has got on board with the event.
Over 100 bars, cafes and restaurants around the city have signed up to support this years event.
Other events happening around the day include 'Scouse Off: The Professionals' a battle between some of the city's top chefs, an artisan fair at the Palm House in Sefton Park, Liverpool whisky mecca Whisky Business will be holding a whisky tasting session, and the Gin Journey Liverpool will be holding a special Global Scouse Day edition of their hit event.
