Report claims Liverpool set to lose without high speed rail link
Liverpool could lose out on millions if it doesn't get a high speed rail link, according to a new report.
It says governmment plans for a Northern Powerhouse could be weakened if the HS2 link isn't extended to other cities than currently planned.
Independent think tank ResPublica says northern cities need a dedicated High Speed link to HS2 if they are to reach the level of economic success that the Chancellor wants as part of his Northern Powerhouse. Report authors say Liverpool and other Northern cities will be left behind if HS2 doesn't go beyond favoured cities and locations.
