Councillor admits burying wrong cat on Twitter

A councillor tweeted 'well this is awkward' ... after burying the wrong cat.

Matt Strong thought his grey tabby Gus had been killed in a road accident on Monday and buried his body in his garden.

He even took to Twitter to post a tribute to his 'friend' after the cat’s supposed death.

But he was stunned when Gus turned up in his kitchen alive and well several hours later - and he realised he must have buried another cat.

Cllr Strong, who represents Chorlton ward, then explained his blunder on Twitter, writing 'well this is awkward'.

He is now searching for the owners of the dead pet.
