A student who stabbed a man in the eye with a Christian Louboutin stiletto heel leaving him with serious injuries has walked free from court.

Manchester Crown Court has heard that Shadiya Omar, 22, of Clarendon Road, Whalley Range , attacked Justin Lloyd, also 22, as they both waited for a taxi home after a night out in Manchester city centre.

The incident happened outside the Mercure Hotel in Piccadilly Gardens on October 18, 2014. Mr Lloyd was assaulted after he offered a crisp to one of Omar's friends then tried to tip them over her when she knocked the bag away. Omar then hit him with the shoe. He was treated in hospital for cuts, bruises and a fractured eye orbit.

Omar pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, and was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, suspended for two years. She must also complete six months of unpaid community work and supervision, as well as pay a £100 victim surcharge fee.
