Most-wanted drug-smuggling suspect from Bolton detained in Greece after six years on the run

One of the UK's most wanted men who allegedly tried to smuggle £1.6 million worth of cocaine into the country, has been arrested in Greece.

Simon Dutton from Bolton faces charges related to importing and supplying drugs and money-laundering.

The drugs were seized at a 'cocaine factory' in Stockport back in September 2009 and 39-year-old Mr. Dutton has been on the run for 6 years since.

He was finally tracked down and detained on a European Arrest Warrant by Greek police in the city of Thessaloniki on Sunday.

The operation was carried out by the National Crime Agency and Hellenic Police; Simon Dutton is now set to be extradited to the UK.

Dave Allen, head of the International Crime Bureau at the NCA, said:
