Trafford actor becomes first transgender actor to play transgender character

An actor from Stretford in Greater Manchester will make UK soap history by becoming the first transgender actor to play a transgender character in a continuing role.

Riley Carter Millington, 21, is set to join the cast of EastEnders playing transgender character, Kyle.

His first appearance on screen will be in October before the character returns permanently at the start of the 2016.

No other details about the character have been revealed.

EastEnders is Millington's first acting role and he said he had now fulfilled his two biggest dreams of "living my life as a man and to be an actor".
