New report reveals rising burden of liver disease
A report revealing the rising burden of liver disease in the North West has been published today.
Reaserch has found the numbers of men dying from liver disease each year in the region are up 20% since 2005.
Deaths from liver disease are 42% higher than the average figure for the rest of England, where liver disease accounts for 2% of all deaths.
The report was complied by the North West Public Health Observatory and Health Protection Agency North West, in collaboration with the National Treatment Agency North West, North West Cancer Intelligence Service and NHS North West.
