Jersey Marathon winner likely to be stripped of title

It is likely that the winner of this year's Jersey Marathon is to be stripped of his title.

It has emerged that Aleksey Troshkin, who won the race on October 2nd, was not eligible to enter the race due to IAAF sanctions placed on Russia, which ban athletes from competing outside of the country.

The athlete, who is a three-time winner of the Jersey Marathon, is expected to have his result annulled and be ordered to pay back the £2,500 he received in prize money.

We are aware of the speculation surrounding the Jersey Marathon 2016 male winner, Aleksey Troshkin. We are currently awaiting for an official ruling from the IAAF as they consider his case. We are working with UK Athletics and the IAAF and will provide an updated statement once we have further information.
