Woman dies after being rescued off Jersey's coast

A rescue boat struggled to launch in the severe conditions last night as they rescued a swimmer off the south-east coast.
Jersey Fire and Rescue's inshore rescue boat was unable to take off at Green Island, where a woman in her thirties was drifting eastwards, and instead had to launch from Le Hocq.

The woman was rescued by an RNLI lifeboat and taken to hospital, but later died.
Police are advising that anyone who witnessed the incident and has been distressed by it can contact a mental health liaison service on 442264.
Dramatic footage of a sea rescue in Jersey has been released as a warning of dangers in the water.
