New car tax introduced in Guernsey

A new tax is now in place in Guernsey for new and second hand vehicles.

The duty is based on the amount of carbon dioxide emissions or engine size.

Any vehicle registered for the first time will have to pay the tax, with a higher rate issued for diesel vehicles.

The rate can go up to a maximum of £690 and is payable at the time of registering.
